The Art of Meditation - Y9 Buddhist Retreat Visit
The Year 9 Religious Studies group visited The Tara International Kadampa Retreat Centre to learn about the art of Buddhist meditation.
Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, modern meditation master, founded Tara International Kadampa Retreat Centre in 1983 for the benefit of the people of the modern world.
Set in 38 acres of beautiful woodland in the heart of Derbyshire, the students were able to take part in a meditation practice led by a practising Buddhist Nun. She guided them through breathing exercises, learning a new skill that will hopefully become something to use throughout life’s busy schedules.
The students took a walk through the surrounding woodlands and explored the beauty of nature around them, including the beautiful Sequoia trees that were planted on the grounds of Ashe Hall 170 years ago.
What a peaceful and enjoyable day!
