Technology Club

2018 Project Blog -Arcade Cabinet  |  2019 Project Blog

Technology club allows students with a great idea, but few workshop resources, to realise their ambitions in the field of Design & Technology. Bring your materials and ideas in on Monday evenings after school and join the fun.

Tech club is also an opportunity to catch up on missed work and go deeper into the lessons of that week. Students attending have the opportunity to have direct access to high tech equipment such as Laser engravers/cutters, C-N-C Routers, electronics equipment and 3D printing. The TREND C-N-C Router is top of the line equipment for schools with an area capable of managing furniture sized pieces.
The laser cutter in the workshop is generously proportioned with a 600x400mm bed. Students can upload files from Techsoft 2D Designer and see them being manufactured.
The 3D printer currently on site can be used for particular design challenges which might occur in the event that the other machines are not capable of managing these. The machine itself can handle a range of sizes up to 330x330x400mm in volume.

In 2018 the Tech Club built a table-top arcade cabinet utilising up-cycled components and a Raspberry Pi 3 single board computer (SBC).

This year Tech Club is venturing into construction to make a large barbeque whilst another group is investigating which workshop based group activity could be undertaken in 2019.
