Curriculum Statement

Curriculum Overview

At KS3 all students study English, maths, science, computing, a modern foreign language (French, Spanish or German), humanities (comprising history, geography and religious studies), design and technology (comprising food, resistant materials and textiles), drama, art, music and PE.

All KS4 students in Years 10 and 11 undertake qualifications in the core curriculum of maths, English language and English literature, science, PE , computing, as well as pursuing a number of options subjects.

All year groups undertake personal, social and health education and KS4 have additional careers advice and guidance lessons. The PSHE course is one hour each week.  The course covers all statutory PHSE requirements but also includes units ranging from enterprise and finance to healthy living and developing confidence. PSHE is taught by form tutors to all year groups for 1 hour per week throughout the year, on a rolling programme.

The school operates a 25 lesson per week, two week timetable, with all lessons being 1 hour long.

At Whittington Green School all students are entitled to a broad and balanced curriculum in which they study a wide range of subjects. The school code of being respectful, listening, focusing, co-operating, and trying your best underpins everything we do and promotes many of the key British values. In addition to this, students are provided with the opportunity to widen their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development on a daily basis through a range of lessons and other activities. Furthermore the school has an Anti-Bullying Policy that is delivered by a team of trained student ambassadors closely overseen by key adults
